Please find the press release below and attached photos from the signing ceremony.

PESA has signed a cooperation agreement with Jupiter Wagons in India. This marks another step in the international expansion of the Bydgoszcz-based company.

Jupiter Wagons Limited is an Indian private manufacturer of freight and passenger railcars, as well as railway infrastructure components and equipment. Among other projects, the company produces railcars for Indian Railways and private operators. The cooperation agreement between PESA and Jupiter Wagons was signed during the Poland-India Economic Forum in Delhi. It outlines technology transfer and joint production of locomotives and passenger vehicles in India.

“In the context of railways, India is one of the most attractive markets in the world. We have been watching it for years, and now we are gaining a partner with whom we can jointly carry out projects and deliver vehicles to Indian operators. This could become one of our most important markets outside Europe, and the cooperation with Jupiter Wagons is an important step in advancing PESA’s international expansion,” said Krzysztof Zdziarski, CEO of PESA Bydgoszcz.

The signed agreement covers cooperation in three key areas: launching the production of locomotives and passenger vehicles based on PESA technology, joint projects related to railway decarbonization including the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles and the supply and manufacture of components.

“Today, the measure of success for Polish industry is not just export, but the ability to build a lasting presence in global markets. By developing its cooperation in India based on its own technologies, PESA demonstrates the maturity and international ambitions of the Polish economy. PFR ambition is to support enterprises that demonstrate a similarly bold approach to their global growth,” emphasized Mikołaj Raczyński, President of PFR.

The Economic Forum in Delhi is one of the events accompanying Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s visit to India. It is part of a broader economic pillar of the visit coordinated by Polish development institutions Team Poland. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański are accompanied by nearly 80 representatives of Polish business and heads of key international expansion institutions: PFR, PAIH, BGK, and KUKE.

PESA is consistently building its presence in foreign markets. Vehicles for operators from Romania, the Czech Republic, and Germany are currently being manufactured in Bydgoszcz. In June, PESA Group finalized the acquisition of German tram manufacturer HeiterBlick, and in July, it signed a cooperation agreement with Hitachi Rail. The companies are jointly bidding in the tender to supply Very High Speed vehicles for PKP Intercity; the agreement also includes the transfer of aluminium welding and double-deck structure technologies to PESA’s plant in Bydgoszcz, as well as joint projects across Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

PESA Bydgoszcz SA is the largest Polish manufacturer of rail vehicles, also providing comprehensive overhaul, maintenance, and modernization services. Trains and trams manufactured by PESA operate in all Polish regions and in foreign markets, serving operators such as Deutsche Bahn, Trenitalia, Ceske Drahy, and RegioJet. The company employs approximately 4,000 people across its manufacturing and service facilities. The majority shareholder of PESA Bydgoszcz SA is the Polish Development Fund (PFR).

Polski Fundusz Rozwoju S.A. (Polish Development Fund) is a commercial law company owned by the State Treasury. PFR invests responsibly, mobilizing capital and expertise to fulfil the economic ambitions of Poles and strengthen the economy’s resilience. PFR’s strategic focus areas include energy transition, international competitiveness of Polish enterprises, innovation and national technological autonomy, long-term financial security for Poles, and economic and defence resilience. By the end of 2025, the PFR Capital Group had invested directly and indirectly PLN 24 billion, allocating PLN 5 billion to VC and PE funds as the largest institutional investor in the region. PFR is the main shareholder of PESA Bydgoszcz, holding 99.78% of the shares.
