The locomotive 111Db Gama is a normal-gauge vehicle with four axles. It is supplied by a modern diesel motor with the power of 2400kW. The structure, technical and exploitation parameters of the locomotive meet the requirements of applicable standards PN, ISO, IEC, CEN /CENENEC, UIC leaflets, recommendations ERRI(ORE) and TSI. It is designed for all European markets, including the Polish market as the implemented design solutions take into consideration specific conditions of the Polish railway infrastructure.
The locomotive has a modern drive with one traction converter cooled with liquid, and two two-phase inverters for each traction bogie separately. It is equipped with electrodynamic and resistant brakes. Transferring a tractive force from bogies to the body is achieved by means of inclined traction links.
The locomotive derives from a multi-system platform of locomotives 111E Gama designed in PESA. In the version 111Db, it is intended for operating all freight and passenger trains, including express trains – with the speed of up to 140 (160) km/h. The first GAMA locomotives – within the contract for 10 units – have started operation for PKP Intercity.
